I'll be very interested in seeing more of 'The Fourth Way' and whatever it entails over the rest of this Parliament and in the next election.

I agree with you on some of you latter points but I do not agree that the Greens like the Liberals are not one of the major parties but got hit badly but the last GE, it is L and the S I doubt who cannot fill their seats not the Greens, hence why you are putting forward the candidate not the S or L.
This genuinely wasn't the case - Superunknown suggested me as a result of having MP experience and the other parties were pretty kind in their support. Left Unity innit.

MacDaddi's manifesto is over the 270-word limit and will have to be reduced by tomorrow evening.
If it's over why has it been included?

Fair enough. LOL 'Left Unity innit' - LU are just closet communist trying to unite the loony left!

Making people pay to go to prison?! What if they can't pay?
They'd be put in prison, for not paying their 'prison fees', har har.

Because candidates need time to make the necessary changes.

He is sponsored by the Government, but he will be a Green MP. The Greens have no problem filling their seats, your point is redundant.
I believe that the seat will belong to the individual winner, not the party that he is a member of.

I believe there is a precedent for cutting off at the 270th word. Maybe even a rule – I have definitely read it from either Metrobeans or Jarred.

We've not had any trouble filling vacancies when we've actively gone hunting for volunteers.

Actually like tehfrance's idea of giving more powers to nurses.

Ruitker, fair play to putting yourself forward, but you should look to try and sell UKIP to us, or maybe try and make UKIP seem more moderate to appeal for votes.

MacDaddi, excellent manifesto, credit where it is due.

PicordionSocialist continues to impress, would like to see more of him.

Some great manifestos, but I think MacDaddi is by far the most experienced candidate here.

Nah their not as exciting as communists i'm afraid a weird mix of TU members, SWP members/refugees alongside a number of other groups and people. Relatively popular amongst the education/health sector of course.

Ah of course them and a couple of fellow travelers I suspect! When do you reckon it will collapse, after the GE?

I don't think it will collapse as an organisation as there are many tiny political groups who carry on just fine. If you mean collapse/decline in terms of popularity and support then I have no idea, from what I gather its a nice meeting ground for the entire left who can gather together to wage a war against the main parties and their identical ideologies. People aren't compelled to give up membership of other parties (Greens/SWP etc) when joining so its not likely to alienate potential members either.

Oh I see they are more like the TUC per se, more of a gathering of other parties. Will they be putting forward LU candidates for the GE?

Indeed it is somewhat. Errm no idea, i'm not a member and haven't really shown up bar the one time. I presume they'll put candidates up for some election at sometime, although it appears they'll be aiding TUSC efforts to get people into office.

Indeed, that's the way I always ran it. Well, for GEs at least, and I'd probably have applied that to by-elections too but I can't remember. The GD would say to allow 250 words plus a 20 word tagline, and that manifestos too long would need to get cut off at the 250 limit. To make things easier, I just consolidated the 20 word tagline to make it a flat 270 limit, with anything going over 270 getting cut off at that final word.

      ----

Anyway, there's a really great selection of candidates here. Unfortunately (in terms of excitement) this is a by-coronation rather than a by-election as we all know who is gonna win, and I've not even used my naughty mod poll snooping powers yet :ninja: Still, there are some great people here and I hope every single one works their way into a seat at some point soon.
