Brother once replied to me a message with x's at the end since he said he'd been sending his gf messages with them and got used to it.
Or maybe he just wanted to show you he loves you Motorbiker.

    ...brotherly love, of course.

Using an 'x' as a full stop is incredibly moronic.

Do we have the same mum?

I think old people just struggle with technology. They see people using xs at the end of messages along with a lack of a fullstop so assume it's a hip new cool fullstop for the texting generation.

Think i replied with a sarcastically lovey post signed off with 5x's like xXxXx and he then realised what he'd done and explained.

I never use them. What a waste of time. A full stop is sufficient.

I usually send Xxxxxxxxx to people, usually my best friend and my mum. My friend (boy) sends <3 instead, so I do the same to him.

I don't use any if it's a really formal situation.
Usually one for acquaintances/people who don't use any for me, two for friends and family, three for my best friends. I tend to go mad on them if I'm in a good mood though

I feel that loads are unnecessary but it feels so cold to just end a message with a full stop

Force of habit - has happened to me. Bet you were a bit taken aback at first though, eh

It depends I usually use them when signing off from a conversation and how many depends on the person. I've noticed some people use it for humour too...

Just took survey in OP. can confirm it takes about 3 to 4 minutes to complete. Was interesting. Would recommend.

I rarely ever use them to be fair, only ever made an exception to the gf at the time and maybe to my friends also if I am messing about. As for using so many kisses for flirting I just see that as pointless one girl sent me over 10 and said she didn't even fancy me.... wut?

If someone puts them at the end of their text, I'll put them at the end of mine. And I do the same number they put.

I send 'xxx' to one of my friends because she always does so it's just a habit now, also send just one x to my mum and aunt at the end of texts. I don't send them to anyone else though. I find it weird when people you don't know very well send x's makes me cringe haha

    Hmmmm...

Used to end texts with a few xs to a friend (female) last year, but not now.

Sometimes the occasional x when saying night if someone uses it.

I don't use it with guys, think it's a bit odd.
So very rarely use them

I hardly use them in my texts, i've only ever used them on just a few occasions in reply to someone back...
But the majority of my friends are male so that explains why and to use it on them would be pretty awkward haha!

Usually if someone add kisses to the end of messages, I'll do it back but I don't go out of my way to do it purposely.
Shamefully, I've been known to be one of those people who increases the number of x's, but only to someone I fancy at the time haha.
Weirdly enough, me and my best friend don't put kisses to each other anymore, haven't for a while but there is still love <3
