Well, I'm currently at the university studying Forensic Science and I really struggle to understand what the lecturer is talking about however I find it useful to make notes during the lecture and then read the lecture materials and read some books as well as my notes after the lecture. <--- this is how I learn.

Back to your question you get a lot of teacher support I feel and it is easy to understand, maybe not for me now because I feel as I have to catch up as I didn't study Biology/Chemistry in A levels. Hope I helped.

Hi I applied for the bio-veterinary science course for 2015 and have received a conditional offer! I visited Lincoln university yesterday and had a little look and it looks great! I just have a few questions:

    1) how far are train stations from the uni?
    2) how are the learning facilities at the uni?
    3) what is the City like? How close is the city centre?
    4) how is the science department? And the university in general like?
    Thank you

    Hi there,

As a graduate of Lincoln I can personally vouch that the nightlife isn't dead here in Lincoln. There are big club nights every night of the week and lots of different options depending on your music taste and clubs in the city have recently invested millions in opening up bigger and better places.

    Hope this helps.

How many nightclubs would you say there are?
How far is the train station from the uni, could you walk there?

The train station really close, it's about a 3 minute walk to the University itself. In fact, most things in Lincoln are walking distance because it's a city centre campus! Very good if you find it hard to roll out of bed and get to lectures in the morning, but very bad if you have (like me) a shopping addiction!

There are well over 10 night clubs in Lincoln and countless bars and restaurants, you'll never get bored on a night out!
For instance 'Home' has 4 floors and loads of different rooms playing all sorts of music and then there's Sugarcubes which is a Rock, Punk, Indie, Metal bar. There's also Moka & Shack which hosts Superbull and some other great student nights and then on top of that you've got Engine Shed, the SU, which has some amazing student nights and live bands playing regularly! Also loads more I haven't mentioned such as Lola Lo's, Circle, Brewhouse, Trebles etc!

    Hope this helps

    Hi Jasmine,

Media production is a great course here, with loads of success stories! As far as shopping goes, it's getting better and better every year for shopping with H&M and Jack Wills opening up recently.

The people are so lovely here, when I first moved up from Essex I was really surprised because complete strangers would say 'good morning/afternoon' when you'd walk past! ha ha.

The city isn't that big, but I think that's a good thing. It isn't over commercialised and there are loads of independent and boutique shops up (the very aptly named) Steep Hill and an amazing Christmas market every December which I think is one of the biggest in the UK!

    Hope this helps

Hi, i am struggling to choose between Hull and Lincoln as my insurance for zoology next year. Does anyone here have any opinions at all about Lincoln that they could share with me to help me out? Literally anything at all about student life or the department or whatever. Thanks!

What is the English course like at Lincoln? I've noticed that they study some really fascinating topics throughout all the years with a lot of books to read - so therefoer I assume that the library is good too? As for buying books, what is the nearest books shop, either on campus or in the city? Thanks!

    Hi there,

You're right, we do study some great topics in our English Department here! I studied Journalism but a lot of my friends were studying an English & Journalism joint honours and they loved it. There is a lot of reading involved but from what you've written, I don't think you'll find that to be a chore!

There are a number of great book shops in walking distance from campus, there's two Waterstones, a Blackwells in the University Library and even a great Oxfam second hand book shop where I found loads of the books I needed for my course.

I absolutely loved the Library here at Lincoln, it was the only place I could ever get any work done, it has a massive selection of books and is even open 24hrs around coursework deadline dates!

    Hope this helps

Thanks Georgia!! This has been really useful! I'm really interested in going into publishing after my English Lit degree, or doing an MA. Do you have any links with publishing companies where I could do some work experience whilst at uni?

What are the prospects like for the TV and Film course? What sort of jobs do graduates go on to do with a degree in TV and Film? and Finally, is Lincoln a quiet and peaceful place?
