Hi there,i am making a research about citizens duties, and i want to know your opinion.what is your duty as a citizen in England? Tell me anything.

I know you have to register to vote even if they won't let you vote.

Are you sure? The government is proposing / considering a £80 fine for not doing so, but I don't think they have yet.

Edit: Bloody hell. An £80 fine. When did that law come in?

(It is a back-door step toward compulsory id registration, and increases the retail value of the Electoral Register. It has bugger all to do with being able to vote. Otherwise they wouldn't be proposing to fine us.)

You do have to respond to the census by law or face a fine.

I would guess that her grasp of English wasn't really up to the job of identifying sarcasm. That last post was not exactly what I'd call well written.

It's very obviously sarcasm, as is the "blaming immigrants" comment above. It's a form of humour.
    I get it now..XD,Sorry..!

I thought it was fairly obvious. See Simes post.
If they won't let you vote because of your age, you still have to register to vote or you face an £80 fine. It just doesn't make any sense.

They have a national census and other registration things anyway, so I don't get why you have to register to vote.
