Depends on the type of prison. Cushy open prison in rural Oxfordshire- hell yes. High security prison like Belmarsh surrounded by murderers, Islamic extremists and paedophiles- god no.

Yeah if I'd have no criminal record. Otherwise, I'd want 3 or 4 million please

    Definitely.

I would want a couple of days to put my things in storage first though.

I believe you're allowed to read, can have visitors and some can even watch TV. If this was the case, and my safety was assured, then yes, I think I would to be honest. That is a huge amount of money and a year isn't long at all. I could definitely keep myself occupied.

    This.

Experience of life inside without being a criminal? 500k a year for it?
Trade Uni placement years for this and I'm sure a lot of students would hop on it. Heck, some students see placement years as punishment anyway.

I was in court last week and came close enough to getting something like that. I ended up getting a suspended sentence and community payback. Before I got sentenced I was on remand for 2 weeks so know what it is like to be locked up.

In real life I hope I never have to go back. You only realise how much your freedom means when you lose it. For some people life in prison is better than their real life but for most people including me it is a lot worse. It's not a holiday camp like some people make out but think most people can survive OK once you get used to it and accept it. A huge thing for me was the shame of ending up in this situation and I've learnt my lesson.

But if someone offered me £500,000 to spend a year there I would do it. That's like 20 times the average earnings so any disadvantages that go with it would be made up with having that ammount of money to start off with in life. You could buy a house and not have to work at all for years.
