But I would maybe guess that the beginning of the 20th century was one of the highest points - loads of composers were exploring hundreds of different styles with influences from all around the world. Jazz, nationalism, neoclassicim, atonality, impressionism... It was just such a varied range

    True, but that does not mean that Bach was the best composer
