Ahh: Squarepusher, Latterman, Hot Water Music (Samiam are also an awesome band in the same vein as LM and HWM), M83, Aztec Camera and Broken Social Scene all mentioned in the same thread. Huzzah. As for my suggestion:

Song: Retreat! Retreat!
Band: 65daysofstatic
Genre: Post-Rock/Instrumental/Electronic

Every song on The Fall of Math is fantastic, but that is the song that got me into them. Basically, if you quite like stuff like Mogwai and Explosions In The Sky but wish that they were a bit more upbeat and rocky with lots of electronic glitching and beats, and that the songs weren't all 5465275 minutes long, then you'll love this band.

Sounds good - they're added to my 'Download' list!

Terrific live band too.

On the same theme:

Song: Yearning
Band: Mono
Genre: Post-rock

Perhaps not as ground-breaking as other scene stalwarts, they have nevetheless attained a level of compositional brilliance that few rival - their songs rarely fail to be heart-breakingly beautiful, and are frequently ear-shatteringly loud too. Another must-see live band.

Seeing as my last recommendation was a Viking Metal song, let's go somewhere sunnier:

Song: Blind (or any other song really)
Artist: Breed 77
Genre: Flamenco Metal :p:
