I'm fairly sure that's not true. You have multiple waves of different stages of sleep. Four hours is ample to reach more than one of those.

4 hours isn't enough to complete a full, healthy cycle of sleep. I think it usually takes approx 5-6 hours to naturally complete a healthy nights sleep.
