Children, students and OAPs get a pass. Disabled people are all faking it unless they are literally paralyzed from the neck down.

Not my opinion of course. Just the attitude of the country.

As I've said an another thread before, we've been born into a society where your worth is measured on two things:

    1) How much money you earn.
    2) How many out of "the big 4" (job, car, own house, relationship) you have in your life.

Not really. When i meet someone i don't really know how much they earn. I don't really care what "job" they do. And any peasant can lease a mercedes likewise with a big mortgage for a house.

Maybe this is the case for the sheeple.

Alright, enough of the backpatting now. You're not the only people in the country who aren't Patrick Bateman-style materialists.

This sounds like a lot of people on TSR.

Other variants include 'I'm doing a STEM subject at uni so I'm better than you!' and 'I went to a Russell Group uni so I'm better than you!'

STEM & Russell Group for me. I'm better than you.

Didn't say we were, in fact I'm no hipster myself, I enjoy buying myself nice things and living a modern life and so on. Just saying, that I don't judge a person on what they do or don't have.

Past contributions do matter. it doesn't however as some seem to think entitle you to a lifetime on benefits and drawing significantly more out of the system than you put in.
MS your whole economic argument is blame those on welfare! do you have any substance other than scapegoating?

Not at all. My whole economic argument is unsustainable public spending.

I've made no issue about those on welfare other than those on long term welfare should always be constantly reviewed.

God the pain. I'm in the Goldilocks zone where my parents make too much money for me to get decent maintenance but not enough to support me at all financially. I hate people who don't have to work.

Such has this became the new low clearly illustrated in the United Kingdom where praise and admiration is given to anyone who can clearly demonstrate that they become outrageous jerks and parrot the establishments words to the letter.

How dare people consider it worthy of praise to go out and seek employment, to support themselves and their families and be proud of the hard work they do.

With so many people in this country unemployed.. why wouldnt we praise those who have found work?
