That has always been the aim, but when such things are suggested it is considered (by some) unfair to the point of illegal that women have to reach the same standards expected of men, so the female standards are lowered.(Original post by Gwilym101)
If a unit needs to be of a certain physical standard, only take those that meet the standard but don't exclude specific people that do meet it just because the particular demogaphic they may belong to on average doesn't meet the standard.
Raising the women's standards means that virtually none will get in in the first place. That would lead to more complaining.
It can't work both ways.
