oh man, I completely missed the silver kpass. does that mean no chance at all on getting hall wars tickets etc?

and in terms of the topic, there will be a looot of students on the same boat. I think going to one or two events here and there would be helpful, to make friends, build connections. And that society seems hella awesome omg

Yeah I know I completely missed the opportunity to get a pass. What a shame, they should have some tickets for students that wants to get it when they get there.

You guys should check out the Are You Not Drinking Much? society, from what I've heard they have activities and stuff for people who aren't into all the parties and stuff

Will this be at the freshers fair on Thursday?

My info says this is currently scheduled for Friday. Looks like there's loads of other societies too, so there's bound to be something of interest for all

Hey, I'm a little bit worried about freshers week as it seems very partyish and I'm really not used to that kind of environment - very sheltered upbringing with strictly religious parents.. I know I have to get to know people so I got the KPass Silver and will force myself to go to some things but... does anyone have any comforting advice?

My first freshers, so admittedly I don't know the score. Plus, for various reasons that I won't go into here for the sake of brevity, my situation is different to yours. That said, imo, if you go into it staking your happiness for your entire 3 or 4 year university stint on what happens during Freshers week, you're putting yourself under an awful lot of pressure and it will be more stressful than enjoyable.

It's up to you to decide what you want out of your university experience. Don't be pressured into doing things you don't want to do just for the sake of "fitting in". I don't want to generalise about all socialising, and nor would I want to discourage you from pushing yourself out of your comfort zone (worth a go; you might enjoy it more than you think!), but just bear in mind than an awful lot of the mainstream, booze-centric socialising is pretty vacuous, when all's said and done. You'll probably form far more meaningful friendships through your interests and activities than you will going to Foam Parties. But, hey, what do I know?
