I didn't even decide on doing physics until a few days before the deadline so before that I'd been practicing MAT papers and now I'm just stressed out...

    Guess.
    Spoiler:
    Show
    Physics.
    Anyone else applying to Merton?
I genuinely thought it'd be engineering haha xD

I don't know where yet, mine's an open application. They're going to tell me which college by Friday though.

I have boards going on (CIE Chemistry P5 on the 5th and Physics P5 on the 6th!) and I didn't know I was applying to Oxford until two days before the deadline either. Don't worry, we'll be fine

    Oh... Why?
Probably because where I'm from, people hardly do physics at uni. It's still a bit weird for me to grasp that it happens so widely in the UK. Sorry

Aw thanks worst part is I'm way better at the maths section so maybe physics wasn't the best idea

I do, but it's something outside my IB syllabus. I'm still memorising the keywords e.g. the technical cycle names and whatsnot.
    Spoiler:
    Show
Solar eclipse only happens at a new moon and lunar eclipse only during a full moon.

I feel the same, but Math HL is more difficult than A2 so I can't really judge. The Physics section does read tricky and you're definitely not the only ones who find the questions challenging.

    Hello All!
Another Engineering Applicant here, applying to Worcester College!
Not looking forward to the PAT, especially because its so soon after half term, which I am away for
Got to spend some of my holiday doing PAT revision! YAY
Other than that its not going to badly, how is everyone else finding it?

I'm for engineering too, at St Hilda's
Not looking forward to it either - I've got two CIE board exams the day after! :sigh:

I find the maths section pretty good, but physics is going to drive me insane one of these days!

I was wondering, do the colleges look at our total or do they look at our section scores as well? For example, say the passing mark was something like 65 and I ended up with 45 in maths and 20 odd in physics, would my low physics mark disadvantage my application?

I feel the pass mark for PAT in engineering may be lower than that of Physics? Do u not agree? As PAT is primarily designed for Physics. I think engineering admission tutors purely use the PAT for shortlisting. But, I may be wrong.
