    I understand it is impulse but stuck which numbers to plug in as I got 514.5N and apparently it's 9800N!!!!

    Well for a) I got 4.8ms-1, b) the collision is inelastic and for c) I got 13800N (which evidently isn't right if you say the marking scheme says 9800N), and I'm not sure where you got 514.5N from if I'm honest.

    Maybe someone else would like to have a go?

    For part (a), use p=mv, keeping in mind total momentum before = total momentum after

    For part (b), calculate total kinetic energy of the system to find out if its conserved or not
