A lot of the spam comes about when people are in bed. Getting more STs / CAs won't change that.
Who needs sleep when there's spam to be dealt with!?

In all seriousness though, this is another major contributor to why some of the spam stays so long. Korea is nine hours ahead, I believe, so a lot of the spam is posted at around 1/2am - personally I might still be posting at that time, but I'm very rarely actively scouring the site for rule-breaking because, well, it's 2am.

Staff are discussing and trying ways to deal with it. Rest assured we do not need 50 threads telling us about the Korean spam. We are all well aware it is a nightmare to deal with.

And unfortunately I can't help out by mass reporting all of these spam threads because I am NEVER awake at 1/2am! However, when I do spot the spam, I report it, and it does get dealt with.

There's already a thread about the spam - and I shall say what I said in the other thread - the best result wouldn't be to delete the spam as soon as it comes on the site, but more like banning all Korean Symbols or doing something else to stop the spam from even being posted. According to a poster in the thread I created about the issue, the last legitimate use of Korean on this website was a good few years ago. So have it so that all posts containing a Korean symbol is sent automatically into pre-moderation. then when the CT get round to it in the morning, they will see that someone has tried spamming the site and will then ban/delete the user(s) without negatively affecting anything else on the site.

    Problem solved :yy:

I think some forum sections aren't checked regularly enough by their ST/SLs.
Considering I've been binning 100+ threads at a time previously, and they still come back in full force, we've concluded that strategies need to be devised in the office - it is out the the volunteers hands now we no longer have the report tool and have other commitments in life. Our role has very much shifted from the admin to project side of things. Perhaps some members of the CT can take over here and explain what is going to be done?

That's not really in my job description. Apologies.

I wasn't just talking about spam though. My main concern is the avalanche of threads being posted in the wrong forums.

A prime example of this is Chat, we know. A section like Chat is far too fast paced for when someone misplaces their thread or "dumps" it to keep moving them. I have been through Chat a few times recently and moved 9/10 threads from the first few pages, and then we're left with a mess of redirects which look incredibly unwelcoming. We're looking at options currently and something is potentially in development, but it takes time, sadly. However, this is a matter for another thread and not here.

Thread will die quicker a dragonfly if it goes straight from Chat to some tiny sub-forum without a good 24 hours, normally.

Plus an influx of people in AtCT asking where their thread went.

I don't know if it's been suggested but is either setting a post count before you can post a new thread, or having to have new threads approved by a moderator an option?

    Hey,

Thanks for those suggestions, we've had similar suggestions made and have got them all ready as backups if our dev we have got planned doesn't reduce it

I used to help moderate a forum and your first post was moderated. However, the forum was so much smaller than here. But yeah, these things have been suggested.
