They shouldn't. He should have handled it. The way he handled it is what is utterly abhorrent.

Would you not agree that excessive force was used?
Well if she doesn't even follow direct orders from a Police officer than you should be prepared to suffer the consequences .. she's not eight years old .. One thing is for sure she'll never be disrupting class again.

And the officer will never serve in the police force again. I wonder who learnt the real lesson?

I'm sure hundreds will have already sided with the (black) student what with all "police brutality" hanging around... but the fact is, we haven't got the full story yet.

She was asked to leave several times (for reasons unknown), she didn't comply and was removed, somewhat aggressively, by the police officer.

    Thoughts?
He could have shot her in the head and dunderheads would still be asking "but did she do anything to warrent such use of force?"

Wow, very authoritarian. You basically think that if one of the state's goons tells you to do something, you must obey, however unreasonable, and if you don't, then you deserve to be beaten down with extreme violence. Properly

This is why the NRA is right when it argues that gun laws need to be liberalised. If some of those kids had been packing heat, the attacker could have been neutralised in a timely manner.

On a more serious note, it has been reported that this police officer has a history of allegations against him from black people, including excessive force.

What does it matter now, he got fired.

Of course it matters, a potentially racist cop with anger management issues should not be working in a school. A police force that was not institutionally racist or looked after their own would have purged him, hence no attack and no publicity about how thuggish American cops are.

It's not unreasonable though. She was disrupting the class and had been asked to leave several times, by the teacher and then by the police officer.

Nor was she 'beaten down with extreme violence'. She was thrown out of her chair and taken out of the room. Get some perspective ffs.

You seem to have a case of 20:20 hindsight.
