For my UG at Uni of Edinburgh I moved from Washington, DC to Scotland Big move but it was worth it! I think if you're up for it go as far from home as you can (of course if you have the means to do so).

I live at home and I commute half an hour on the train. It's 40 miles from where I live.

    Why the imperial units?
\approx 140 km, 3.5h travel time with a combination of trains, a walk and a lift.
This is the UK, we use miles. Kilometres are rubbish.

Where are you from? I moved from Northern Ireland to England.

I am ok now but I found the reserved behaviour of people in the south of England hard to handle. I am not used to people giving me weird looks when I ask questions. I don't know how people here make friends since no one really bothers with anyone.

Yeah not really fond of the southern English culture it's easy to mistake them as stuck up. Besides that, It's alright here, I am settled in.

An inch is some arbitrary length(now defined nicely in terms of metres though). There are 12 inches in a foot, 3 feet in a yard, 1600 and something yards in a mile, 3 miles in a league.
Yeah, I can really see why you think it's a superior system.

1 hour. I love it. Can go home on the weekend, grab some food, get my clothes cleaned, and see my local pals. Or, I can do none of that. It's great

5-minute walk from my house and then a half an hour train straight onto campus. It's very useful!
