I'm a housewife at the moment and it's terrible for my morale so choosing to be that forever is something I can't do. However I don't think I can live on such a low income. Basically I don't know really

Rich housewife. More realistically, work in New Zealand. -

Rich housewife
Though working in the private sector, this isn't such a big issue. I wouldn't want to work for less than I earn currently, for any one, which tbf, is pretty decent straight outta uniLast edited by The_Internet; 06-11-2015 at 22:33. -

I'd rather be a poor doctor so I can be independent. I hate relying/trusting other people

You can defs make use of the money, and put it elsewhere, in order to profit from it -

I would be a rich housewife. You can be equally as satisfied from doing that. Especially when you're raising children if they're involved

I guess the noble thing to say is poor doctor. I don't want to be a housewife, and being a doctor is cool- but not for me. I would probably make conditions worse instead of better.

Imagine a scenario where they cut doctors pay by 50% - probably will happen at some point tbh.
So you leave medical school, and someone in finance proposes to you but wants you to move to Monaco with him and you can't be a doctor anymore.
What would you do? Reject the proposal, continue working as a doctor for £20k a year or give up your job and become a trophy wife?
Does having a respectable job mean anything to anyone? Or is it all about dollar signs...
Reverse the genders if you want. -

Australia and NZ are just destinations du jour for UK doctors moving out. I think a big part is good compensation, good lifestyle, very similar culture, and ease of transition (no USMLE-style licensing exams to study months and months for).
Men can be housewives, too. Stop the patriarchy. -

If they cut doctors salaries to start at that level, nobody would bother to become a doctor because the stress of the job and years of training would not be worth it at all. If I had to choose, I'd go to Monoco and be the house husband and specialise in another field that was more lucrative
