Someone seems pretty butthurt.I studied psychology, for a while, no need to throw childish insults.Alot of psychology work feels speculative and are often hard to prove.
Anything psychological is biological.I'm pretty hopeful psychology will get swallowed by advances in neuroscience, which will hopefully be able to validate or disprove many psychological theories.
You honestly can't compare psychology on the same level as physics or biology.
Neuroscience is a vital component of Psychlogy, what are you on about?
Why can't it be compared on the same level as the likes of biology? Is Alzheimer's for example, not as important as a physical illness?Last edited by Twinpeaks; 07-11-2015 at 09:39. -

"As a psychology student at a leading institution".
You do know almost every university claims they are are a leading institution in some field or another.Do you mind naming this uni? Or mention some of the pioneering work they are doing that they can claim that? Is even in psychology they are leading?
Why should I tell you about their work when you obviously think that the researchers are wasting their time? -

Yes, in some "field or another", meaning mine is second in the UK in terms of research.
Why should I tell you about their work when you obviously think that the researchers are wasting their time?
Any breakthrough in Alzheimers is more likely coming from neurobiology and neuroscience, rather than psychology.
Not everyone has to believe and take for word every psychology research, especially some of their more wildly specualtive ones like this study.Deal with it.Bath has a good REF but I havent yet seen any psychology research there made me jump out in excitement.Best go and cry somewhere else. -

Even though this is just one study, and we don't know the details (i.e. how they measured or identified 'arousal' or their control variables, nor their sample size) the conclusion does fit the hypothesis of some interesting evolutionary theories about sexual orientation in women.
One of the theories I read about a couple of months ago... Uhhh, I can't remember where, was that attraction to other females alongside attraction to males was advantageous because females were more likely to experience 'pack loyalty' towards their male mate and female co-mates (human beings would behave like the other great apes, with one male forming a mating bond with maybe 4 females).
That 'pack loyalty' would decrease the chance of infanticide of the offspring of co-mates, increasing the number of offspring born to the male. It would also result in the co-mates taking greater care of the 'family' as a whole, helping to rear one another's offspring - which would increase the education and care experienced by the offspring, and perhaps become a factor in the creation of social/family morality. -

Could be a valid explanation for why polygamy is seen as far more socially acceptable and more widespread than polyandry. -

Oh that article is such bull. Stop fetishizing sexuality and get over yourselves. Seriously. An influx in the amount of women coming out as gay, bisexual, pansexual, etc. doesn't correlate to the amount of lesbian porn. Oh, and a newsflash for you, most of the pornstars who star in lesbian porn are actually straight. They get told they'll find more work if they star in lesbian movies... only because there are sex-starved saddos out there feeding that demand.
Have a wonderful day jerking off. -

I'm pretty sure that women who only do lesbian porn get less work and less pay.
Although interestingly enough( at least for guys) most escorts nowadays claim to be bi.
And in their case it may well be to get extra work.
Jerking off to porn is of course absolutely wonderful and to a large extent makes the whole issue of whether or not most women are bi/ gay somewhat moot.

Exactly.
Getting turned on by lesbian porn doesn't mean you are attracted to women.
Yet you're gay... so how can you be sure it doesn't. -
