    Well that's debatable.
But surely for it to be debatable, we'd have to debate over its debatability?

But surely we would have to debate whether its debatability would be worth debating?

But wouldn't we then have to debate the debatability of its debatility being worthy of debate?

Well why don't we debate that?

Well why don't we debate that?
Because we'd be engaged in debate for all eternity before we get onto a debate with any substance!

While i don't think we should have debates on anything unless it's already passed, i'd suggest genetic commodification in reference to designer babies and the liberal eugenics movement.

When is something defined as being passed though, particularly given that with many things there will likely by something else related further down the line? What of stuff that wouldn't even be proposed?

Passed during a previous term post the last repeal.

That's what petitions and motions can be used for.

What's the point of this? Starting a debate about something is what bills and motions are for.
There appears to have been rather a lack of them at the moment though.

Is there any way we could share these debates with the wider UK politics, to increase the membership within our house.

A United Ireland, a United Ireland under Britain or leave it as is.

Or something on the future of the UK (will it exists in 2200?)

The sidebar link certainly made a difference to turnout in the current debate - I am sure the CT will help to support this for future debates as well.

The UK as it is? Not a hope in hell. I'd be surprised to see Scotland stay any more than another decade or so tops, and very disappointed if Ireland didn't reunite at some stage in the next 30-to-50 years. I expect in both our lifetimes the UK will be reduced to England and Walkes, quite possibly in a very different Europe to what we know now, let alone by 2200.

    Thanks for everyone's suggestions.
I propose the following timetable for future debates, each with a 3 week interval to avoid overkill.

    Debate Plan

    • 6th November: Capital Punishment - Yes or No?
    • 30th November: Euthanasia - Yes or No?
    • 15th December: Should the UK have nuclear weapons (Trident) - Yes or No?
    • 5th January: Should Higher Education be free of charge to all? - Yes or No?

    Future ideas for 2016

    • Abortion & Eugenics - good or bad? (to include discussion of genetic commodification/designer babies)
    • America vs. Russia - who should Britain work with?
    • The British Empire: was it a good thing?
    • Nudity in Public - should it be legalised?
    • A debate on the future of the UK, Home Nations or Ireland
    • A debate on housing
    • At what age should one be considered an adult? - may require multiple voting options.
