I'm jealous; my parents literally couldn't care less where I applied. They took no interest whatsoever and barely raised an eyebrow when I told then I got into UCL/Edinburgh.

Nottingham is fine. It has it's grim areas like any city but you will only be going in the student areas or town centre really and they are fine. Nothing to worry about - I love it here and have lived here 3 and a half years now

Trust me, my parents have no idea of that. They based their judgement on name recognition, nothing more.
Lol parents are funny. No one in my family went to university and the only ones they know are Oxford and Cambridge. So getting my offers from UCL, Bristol, Manchester, Leeds and Warwick meant nothing to them

And its not just Nottingham he believes is poor, he also thinks the other universities I have applied too are also rubbish which includes Edinburgh and Manchester and said he wont allow me to go to any of these universities ....he is middle eastern so obviously he wont listen, its in his blood.
Anyone in a similar position? No idea what to do now
I swear Nottingham has one of the worst crime rates in the country? The uni itself is nice though

Compared to places like hackney or white hart lane, sure, it's probably paradise in comparison. But still, apparently Nottingham is pretty bad too.

Meanwhile there's cardiff with a prison that's literally a 10 min walk from the university. Every uni has it's flaws. The hills in Exeter are disgusting. A girl walking behind me tripped and legit started rolling down the pathway before she hit a metal railing.

Yeh true but I believe its only bad in some areas. As a student you'll be spending time on campus or in the main city, not strolling around the hackney of Nottingham at 1am.

My Dad is gonna drive me insane..Ive got 4 offers so far for Chemical engineering and planning on firming Nottingham. However he believes Nottingham is one of the worst universities???? lol what? He has no clue what hes talking about and refuses to listen when I try explain to him.

And its not just Nottingham he believes is poor, he also thinks the other universities I have applied too are also rubbish which includes Edinburgh and Manchester and said he wont allow me to go to any of these universities ....he is middle eastern so obviously he wont listen, its in his blood.

O dear! Will his attitude have any serious impact on you going esp if you will be depending on financial assistance from him?
Can't believe he thinks Edinburgh is a rubbish uni - clearly the 60,000 students who applied for entry 2016 don't agree with him! He just needs a bit of educating.

Good luck with changing his mind. Edinburgh is a fab city and has a brilliant uni.

Nottingham is a great uni. However i have an offer from them for chemical engineering and when i went for the application day the department was awful - totally disorganised and run differently to all the other unis
