Is there an extent to Freedom of speech?
I think so - and I mean in society not on TSR.

    A good question Snufkin.

I would personally never close Chat because I believe that TSR needs at least one area where people can just 'chat' without having to worry about going off topic or sticking to a set theme.

Here's a controversial question on a topic that grinds my gears…

What's your view on the recent anti-moderation rhetoric? In a few short words? :yep:

    Well, you certainly did.

It might be worth renaming this to the 'Big Live Captain Jack AMA'.

Or we could debate whether to do that. *ponders*

Actually, on second thoughts, let's not rename it to that. It sounds slightly perverted when I say it out loud.

Moderation is much more lax than it used to be, posts that previously would have been carded or removed for being off topic are left alone these days, so why do we still need a dedicated Chat forum?

Because we couldn't have this discussion in any other forum

Sure we could. We could debate removing Chat in the TSR ideas and feedback forum, and the rest of the debates suggested in this thread could (and should) be discussed in the Debates and current affairs section. This is the problem with Chat, it sucks the life out of other forums.
