Okay, but when does a minority become an irrational way of thinking, or hurtful to normal society as a whole. Surely, if you want to do something bad enough then you shouldn't give a damn about what anyone else thinks?

    Btw:
    LGBT are accepted
Empowered women? In the first world they already are
Most don't have real diagnosed mental illnesses.

First: wtf is dragonkin, demonkin and giraffekin?

    And at OP:
I fear, to some extent, yes. It does not and will not impact an entire generation as a unit, but it does have grossly negative effects on individuals.

My sister was absolutely fine and happy lalalala. Next thing you know: she starts using tumblr; makes friends with the emo-type, agender, hipster, *rant against humanity * types; becomes totally disillusioned with the world; gets a girlfriend; and starts cutting herself.

I think that websites like tumblr give the neurotic types a platform to impact those who are easily influenced. It's not isolated to tumblr - the Internet as a whole is to blame, but tumblr seems to be the climax of it.
People that identify as dragons, demons or giraffes and not as humans (Yes, I know it is really really weird)

The thing is, as more and more people begin to see these sort of things, it will become normalized in society, which just isn't right. We have a society which works as it is, when you start introducing radical and crazy ideas, that's when things begin to break down.

I tick two of those boxes as well, yes they are.

It may not be perfect, but it is a much much better situation.

Unless, third world, in which case, big issue

..... And these people are actual functioning members of society?

I can't tell if your latter point is sarcasm. Change is necessary for any society otherwise we cannot evolve as a species. Equal racial rights and equal rights for women were deemed 'radical' and 'crazy' in the past. Now they're expected

    Define "functioning"

Somewhat, my point is, equal rights for all are important, its necessary for us to function as a society. But identifying as an animal? Claiming you don't need a diagnose to have an illness? Advocating murder of certain groups? These could cause a lot of problems.

Oh, that wasn't clear. Yes I concur. I expect it's people looking for attention mostly; although I'm not sure they understand the exponential impact that they have on the lives of others.

    I dont use it.

I feel like only a minority do, as opposed to other forms of social media.

This question may seem kind of strange but hear me out:

    1. Mental Illness. For some reason, on Tumblr especially, people think they can just give themselves mental illnesses without a medical diagnosis, this is wrong and disrespectful to those who have real illnesses.

    2. Fat acceptance. Why are we normalizing poor life decisions. Being morbidly obese is not healthy get over it please.

    3. Otherkin. I don't need to say anything here, this is just plain strange, I know you will say I am close minded, but as an attack helicopter I am offended at that

    4. Sexual Identity/ Orientation. There are four genders, male, female, tran, and intersex. There are 3 sexual orientations, hetero, homo, and bi.

    5. SJW/BLM/Feminism. I'm not talking about those that are simply making the point that we need equality, I'm talking about those that think men should die, whites are vile etc etc.

Feel Free to drop your opinion below.

are you implying tumblr made your sister a lesbian?
i mean i'm one of the biggest tumblr haters you'll meet, but i'm certain that's not how sexuality works

No not at all. I'm saying that's what precluded her self-harming.

i wonder how many people who voted yes have actually ever used tumblr rather than are just basing their view on tumblr from a few screenshots of extreme posts
literally every site has a bad side and tumblr gets a lot of criticism for that which overshadows the other part of the community which is less intense and possibly even beneficial in many respects

nothing is ever black and white
there are idiots on tsr and there are idiots on tumblr this is nothing new

oh, then yeah I agree. tumblr influences a lot of impressionable kids negatively, glamorising mental health issues is definitely one of those things

Very little to none of this **** actually translates and transpires irl, at least not from my experience.

If you really are worried about otherkin etc. becoming normal you need to get out of the house more.

It all depends on how someone uses Tumblr. There are so many different types of blogs that not all of them are problematic or damaging to society. Personally, I used to use Tumblr a few years ago and deleted it. My Tumblr was pretty dark and being surrounded by negativity all the time was making me feel worse. It could be argued that it may make people feel less alone with specific issues, however I believe that if I never used Tumblr then I wouldn't of self harmed as I was constantly surrounded by those images.

Posts about Tumblr all seem to focus on the negatives when it is a varied site meaning that it is hard to control the perceptions people have of it. The internet as a whole could be argued as damaging, however it depends on how someone uses the internet and how they are influenced.
