Uh, muslim ''brothers''? Is this gonna be one those ''no true scotman'' arguments like when asking muslims about apostasy and they bob and weave like Tyson in his prime?

There are many people of all races and religions that fits that description, yet it is only the Muslims that go to Syria. So those things cannot be the distinguishing factor.
They use religion as away to attract these people. But generally your average Muslim wouldn't join them.

First of all, many islamic terrorist are from well off families, educated and blend perfectly (look up the 9/11 bombers, the 7/7 terrorists, the marathon bombers, all these ''jihadi brides'' running away recently...). What do you think makes these ''outcasts'' feel the way they do and join ISIS? Is it anything to do with islam?
There's obviously something attracting these individuals to ISIS, can't say for sure what it is :dontknow:

My hypothesis is muslims feels uneasy and angry at the status quo of current world order. Muslims see themselves as a former great world power as they once had a golden age (hence the idea of forming a caliphate), only forced to accept the reality that now western countries and civilization are doing better and islamic countries has become chaotic and lag behind western ones. Muslims in britain can connect with other muslims from far away countries despite the distance because they both share similar values, language and belief, just the same way australia and canada supported britain in WWII due to cultural and langauge similarities despite canada and australia are far away and has no whatsover to do with WWII.

Muslims want to see islamic power rise in world order so that they can feel proud and respected. But those with a good life and good career would not risk losing everything to emotions. However those with little to lose, and has a drive to seek something meaningful in life, in this context, would be martyrdom, ISIS offers everything they want.
I think you're right, these guys get sold a dream where they get told there life will mean something, and how they'll be doing something that'll change the world. They seem to be good with their propaganda.

Probably as many wanting to join ISIS : zero. That's not the point though, we are talking about general attitudes of millions of ''moderates'' (combined with a medieval ideology completely at odds with 21st century democracy) that produces these extreme abominations.

A British Muslim would be more of a pariah in their community if they joined the British armed forces than they'd be if they joined ISIS or Al Shabab.

Besides, wasn't it established like a year ago that it's an undisputable fact that more British Muslims joined ISIS over the previous year than joined the armed forces? It was discussed loads on here and elsewhere. It's just come up again because Trump said it.

Maybe the fact that ISIS is trying to bring back the caliphate and that they act pretty much exactly like Mo did in the 7th century : massacring, committing genocide, beheading, taking slaves, raping slaves, treating women worse than cattle, punishing the kafir... need I go on? Why would a real muslim not want to emulate the life of the greatest human that ever lived?

So is the fact that the British Army is not "Muslim" enough a problem? Do we need a diversity campaign? Should we divert some of the MOD budget to promoting recruitment amongst Muslims?

71% of pakistanis either support ISIS or are ''unsure'' about them? How the **** are you ''unsure'' about ISIS??? That's 130 MILLION muslims in Pakistan alone. There are hundreds of millions more in the other countries. The worst thing is that I'm not even shocked anymore.

    640 is very low

Wiki lists total force as 248,250 people including reserves, that's roughly 0.002% of UK Muslims?

Not surprised, Pakistan has a long history of supporting militant groups, its government is not exactly the most tolerant.

That's true but the biggest problem is the average, ''moderate'' muslim. There is no such thing, not by 21st century, Western standards anyway. Look how extreme or dismissive (at best) most TSR muslims are and these are the young, educated, ''Westernized'' ones... so what can you expect from a illiterate pakistani peasant?

What makes you think Australia had nothing to do with WWII? Australia was bombed by the Japanese during WWII and large parts of the country had to be evacuated. WWII also affected trade between Canada and Britain due to German U boats sinking ships in the Atlantic.

I'm talking out of my ass a little bit here but the peasantry are probably more educated than the elites in terms of actual truth. Their illiteracy means they will only be exposed to the Quran through verbal means (meaning they won't be taught certain passages that are often quoted as evidence of Islam being barbaric) and also the practical nature of the peasantry (like heavy agriculture) means some of them might be unlikely to believe in things like miracles. Obviously a lot of them will be too stupid to understand why these things are false, but you must not make the trap of thinking that all peasants are just ignorant, some of them have enough practical knowledge to call out bs.

Quick google shows this to be nonsense
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milita...g_World_War_II

Had to deal with a direct invasion from the Japanese, commit soldiers to the British war effort, trade disruptions, etc.

Yes being White is core to the KKK's beliefs. Just like Islam is to the Islamic State's beliefs.

    Glad we agree.
