I agree, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

    How?
It at least brings a bit more attention to it, better that it's getting debated than not getting debated.

Attention isn't going to change anything.

If no change comes about then whether it was debated or not is irrelevant. When was the last time the government listened to what young people wanted, Clegg?

And for anyone who signed and cares about this issue - it's worth taking 5 minutes to contact your MP to let them know you signed and to ask if they'll be taking part in the debate and what their thoughts are on the issue. And encouraging your friends and family to do the same.

There's a good chance they'll ignore you or reply with the party line but ultimately MPs are terrified of their constituents. If they feel like there is enough anger about an issue that could lose them their job at the next election then they're more likely to get their arses into gear.

Just pathetic. A petition. Are you kidding me. Why not inflict the ultimate form of protest by, I don't know, not going to university. Going to uni and accepting the loans is telling the government you have NO problem with it. All of you need to show some spine, take the personal risk and send a direct message to the universities and the government otherwise just shut the hell up. Petitions and protests don't do anything because students have no bargaining chip unlike those employed and in unions.
