    Alcohol. Always alcohol.

The teachers who don't get alcohol as a gift get mocked by those who do.

If your old enough, my friend got some nice whisky for some of the teacher he hated. Im pretty sure a teacher would prefer alcohol over flowers and chocolate.

Listen to this guy/girl. Seriously, I have a wife who is a teacher and at least 6-7 teacher friends. They want booze first and chocolate second. A nice note/card to go with it is also a bonus.

you'd think but i've seen way too many teachers drink at the pubs next to our school, kind of awkward seeing your student and teacher day time drinking ... some go to the only 21+ pubs to avoid us... but a lot fo the ones open in the day are 18+.
also some of my teachers are organizing drinking sessions with their classes after the exams, i would have to disagree. Most peole like alcohol, worse case they can give it to someone else as a gift if they dont like it . Its a decent gift, ive seen a lot of people give it, though we can all legally buy and drink it, so if you cant, then an other gift would be better,
