The defining theme of my childhood from about five onwards; and a singular, unrivalled, towering musical accomplishment even to this day:

(Not to mention, possibly the last subject on which my parents truly saw eye to eye.)

Pink Floyd. Justin Timberlake. Run DMC.

Childhood classics for me. Also sums up my music taste quite nicely.

I go through phases of disliking their music, but I always come back.

    I blame intermittent depression.

Thanks to my Dad I've been a huge fan of Pink Floyd for the majority of my life. The funny thing is that he probably doesn't even realise how much I appreciate him for introducing me to their music, but I do.

Toots and the Maytals. Like punk music came from them, they popularised rocksteady which is like funky, screechy ska. And a lot of classic punk and rock bands like The Clash, Stiff Little Fingers, The Police all them sampled and covered rocksteady music, and Areosmith and The Beatles dabbled in roots rock reggae and rocksteady :headbang:
