Yes it is a crime over there.
But, even if it wasn't a crime, the British police should not interfere. You abide by the laws of the land, not the laws of where you come from. Some of the offenses he was charged for took place in this country, and were rightfully prosecuted, but the actual acts of sexual conduct should not have been prosecuted*.
*Acts that took place outside of the UK.
Should have been jailed in the dirty filthy jails in Malaysia, here life is chushy so it's a stay in a hotel in comparison. Hope he meets with a torturous death in jail.
