off topic but why do people who break up with you even bother to claim to want to be friends? it doesn't even make sense :/
I agree, it's awful. In my case though the relationship ended because he wasn't ready and wants to travel. I guess it might work out one day but just not now, because, even he says, objectively we are 'perfect' for each other it just didn't work out because of circumstances. I think if it had ended because someone had cheated or we didn't have anything in common anymore, being friends would be out of the question. We both know it isn't the right time and we need to work on ourselves. Doesn't make the pain any easier though...

Don't think i would want to be just friends with an ex i would think it would be hard going from a relationship to being mates.
it is hard; we have a lot in common and get on really well, but it just doesn't work due to circumstances and timing etc. i'm trying to keep my distance.

I think keeping your distance will work and when you are at uni you will barely think of him as you will meet new people and being in a new environment will help thats why you need to keep busy until September.
I think he wanted different things and being friends will prevent you from moving on.
I don't think i can accept being friends if i was with that person for a while and we were intimate, shared everything and had deep feelings for them.

First off I wish you the best of luck at uni!
Aw I'm sorry to hear that! I've never really had a social life so i know how it feels!
I'm afraid all you can do really is just try your very hardest to forget about him and move on. Just try and keep yourself occupied and keep busy and you'll forget about him.
I'm positive starting uni will help you! I'm 100% positive!
Don't feel hopeless! There are plenty of amazing people out there for you to meet, and I'm sure you'll have the greatest time ever at uni!
I'm always here if you want to talk.
