    If you have little money, then you should be thinking about food and bills.

    Maybe think about it for Christmas, make a note of what it is and where.
    Yeah Im tempted to just get her something which means more rather than whats worth more. Like you say living costs are more important so I could save it for christmas or something.

    Point is you dont really have the money and you dont know her very well yet. As said above dont try and buy your way in. If she only appreciated things based on how much they cost irrespective of whether you need books or need to eat, then thats not someone who really likes you for you and looks more like someone who considers what they can get out. Later on in life you might encounter that.
