    The missing question about the variable resistor and fixed resistor was what was the resistance of the fixed resistor. I think it was 600 ohms because when the variable resistor had a resistance of 600 omhs, both resistors had a voltage of 6V. Since the current must be the same (they were in series), the voltage was the same and V=IR, the resistance must be the same. Therefore, the resistance of the fixed resistor was 600 ohms. Also, on the question about acceleration, I got 12 m/s^2. The question said that the upwards force was 1850N. I thought that just meant the force from the water pushing him up. If that is what they meant, the resultant force would be (1850-840=1010N), making the acceleration 12m/s^2. However, if they meant that the resultant force was 1850N, then it was 22m/s^2. It seems a bit ambiguous to me.

    Yes I got the same answer too, I'm not sure why they'd five us the force of gravity if they didn't want us to use it in our calculations, past papers they always seem to give us only the revelevant stuff

    Good point. Also, I'm pretty sure they called it the upwards force rather than resultant force which would suggest that it's just the force from the water pushing him up.

    You're right in everything you've said. Btw for the question on the resistor, I put 600 ohms, but then did some maths as reasoning. Will it count?

    I didn't do enough practice to understand exactly what that resistance question was asking to do, as long as you followed through your answer to the above question working out the current, they have to still give you the marks if you calculate correctly. But yeah, I had no idea about working out the fixed resistance ngl

    The last question about the jetpack is the acceleration answer.

    The force of the man and the jetpack increase to 1850 N. Using the answer you got from the previous question, calculate his acceleration.

    oh fair enough, do you htink that if i write my answer to one question in the answer lines and then continue my answer into answer lines below for a different quuestion, but obviously use arrows to indicate i have done so, it will be marked?

    We have eleme to heavier than iron on earth which could have only been formed during a super nova explosion thus there must have been a supernova

    Just that it could not explain at all why ratios got me the answer, as I didn't even know that the ratios got me the correct answer in the first place. I originally attempted to use current but current changes in the series circuit as the resistance changes so it couldn't be used. How could I have explained something I didn't even understand lol :cry:

    You have to remember they are humans and so if it was clear then I don't see why the examiners would be dicks about it, I'm sure you'll be alright. If you re reslly worried about it you could talk to your examination officer and maybe get advice from him
