I don't have anything to add others haven't (lawyer up, get your student union advice people involved, get as many references as you can) but wanted to say this is a *****y situation and it sounds like you don't deserve this.

Great news, well done! Have you had plenty of feedback about how to meet their (admittedly crazy-sounding, but don't tell them this!) requirements? And will your foundation school be supporting you as a late starter?

Yes, I got plenty of feedback about what needs work. Although some of their requirements are ridiculous, I will admit that a few of their critiques were quite valid. My portfolio had major flaws that needed addressing.

I still need to find out exactly what's involved with re-submitting the portfolio. I don't know if I just change what I already have or if I need to repeat the entire year and start from scratch. In any case it's too late for me to start work at my foundation school, plus my GMC registration was cancelled and needs to be renewed.

It's alright, though. I'm just happy that I'll still be able to become a doctor.

The entire concept of failing because of a portfolio is completely alien to me. Even the foundation doctor's ones are, whilst very very annoying and time-consuming, actually very superficial.

All I can contribute is to add to those saying you need to fight this using everything you have. Its the difference between becoming a doctor and having paid >£200,000 (I'm guessing) for a 2.2 BSc.
    £200,000 bro?!

If you include living expenses then yeah, probably not far off. Still cheaper than med school in the US.

That'd be conservative for some schools. Cambridge charges up to £47,000 per year in tuition alone.
