erm... it is basically the product of unburnt fuel.
My exhausts are very black. The timing chain on my V8 is fooked. Extra fuel is drawn into the cylinders when i come off the throttle and is not burnt in the cylinder. Instead it finds its way into the hot exhaust and explodes in the silencers. Its like hundreds of little pops when i come off the throttle!

Might explain why i only get 12 to the gallon.

My camshaft is knackered so I guess the valves are not timed properly. Time to sell it I think why it is going.

I am going to try and get £300. It sounds daft but people love small cars round here and with 11 months MOT they will fall for it, never mind the fact its covered in body filler :p:

Yes but theres the old saviour with all small ads - sold as seen. If they see no problem, its worth more. Theres no come back. With cars at that price, if people get another year out them, they will think they have done well.

That is the point, when I bought it I knew it was a clapped out shed but for £400 it was just a few nights out for me. I mean I this weekend alone I would have spent £100 on socialising.

For £300 for a car with a 11 months MOT what do people expect?

However my dad and I drove 20 miles in the car today, it cut out once and revved freely once so it is not right. I am going to borrow an HCS ECU tester of my uncle to see what is shows up.

Just read the Haynes manual and there 12 different sensors feeding the injection system even on an ancient push rod unit like mine .

Found the fault, its abroken cable which goes into the throttle position sensor

There you go then. You were getting an intermittant contact. This means the TPS has been lieing to your ECU hence it overfueling the engine. The evidence for this being the blocked rear silencer. Wouldnt be suprised if the car was surging whilst cruising (as if you were putting the power on and off)
