how important are gcse grades to uni applications?? Watch

I think as I've been asking around different universities this year, the Russell Groups tend to be saying they look more at A level target grades and the GCSEs more than AS levels as the exam system has changed to linear. But you got basically all As and A*s so you're in a great position! Plus I've only ever seen grade requirements for English language as a grade c so not sure?

Personally with my experience GCSE grades did not matter at all thankfully. I came out with school with really poor grades (most of them below C) because I did not even try to get a grade let alone a good one, for one of my exams I did not even turn up. (I know this is so bad I wish I could go back and do better)

I went to college and done BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Travel and Tourism, got a D* D* D and retook my english GCSE, came out with a B and applied to SOAS University and Goldsmith University (bearing in mind these two are phenomenal universities) just to see my luck and I got accepted in both . I made sure my personal statement was bang on point, I spent 2 weeks lol.

I applied for Anthropology and now I'm in my second year at SOAS

Moral of the story: GCSE grades are really not that important, your personal statement is. Thats if you want to do a social science, I can't say about other degrees.
