    Because, when some people start saying "Hey! I know that guy!" or "Hey! I know that girl!" They feel that they have the right to get involved and share their opinions, and not all opinions are good.

    Then you become bait and gossiping develops etc.

    If the person wants to know more about me, then I will introduce them to my close and best friends and then he can have his questions answered. But, for someone who have like 77+ connections with you, it becomes a problem in my opinion as I don't want too many people knowing about my business etc.

    But that's just my personal thought and feelings about it.
