    As the right honourable member before me has said, it would be extremely difficult to enforce. Whilst I am strongly against parents slapping children, occasional 'spanking' doesn't constitute child abuse; treating it as such would destroy many families.

    If the slap leaves noticeable bruises, then of course this could be child abuse.

    I'm torn on this.

    Nay! I do not condone violence but kids need a clip round the ear occasionally; it is a psychological fact that all animals learn quickest through pain.
