Surely this is a step forward? A proportional HoL will be hard to pass unfortunately.

Ok but at least ensure that the HoL is an elected upper chamber, if the MHoC has elected members why can't the HoL? Hence why I voted Nay, this bill brings very little change IMO.

    You haven't voted yet...
And you really aren't getting this are you?
    A) making the upper chamber elected will not happen in this house, at least not right now because too many people are generally against it.
    B) this is a step forward, it may not be as far as you want but surely you can see it as improvement?

I stand firm on my points and still believe it's too little, also I did vote on this bill.

Aye. It would be an honour and a reward to become a peer, not something people should receive just based on their heritage. I too would like to see further changes to the House of Lords but this is a step in the right direction.

No you haven't, the vote isn't until division.
And the question is "do you think this is a good idea?" You really don't seem to be getting that.

When/if you study AS politics, you'll realise this is a terrible idea.
AS politics rocked my belief in an elected HoL slightly but I still think we should have one.

    Anyway aye to this bill.

Even if it's too little it is a step towards the right direction isn't it? And we've tried to do more but have failed, so this is likely the best that might pass at this time.

Aye. I see no major changes so I don't see a need for debate, Just a more effective way to enforce the original act

Somewhere between an Abstain and Nay.

I'm not sure that this change is needed (hence the temptation to vote Nay) however i do think there are too many Lords.

I'd probably prefer to grant all Lords a ten year limit to sit in the chamber,at that point they'd not be replaced until the number fell to say 500.
Um no, you'd be losing some great lords. They're more effective than they're made out to be, you cannot just get rid of whoever perhaps a systematic removal would be better than a time limit

To be honest, I'd aye this bill. Unless someone can show me the amazing contribution of hereditary peers in the HoL. In fact, what has the HoL really contributed to? (hinting at abolition)

VONCs and questions to the ministers is enough IMO to hold the government to account.
    Spoiler:
    Show
oooh controversy, dw Tory MPs I'm not that passionate about this so I'd just abstain or nay because it doesn't really make much of a difference. The HoL would still be ****.

Nay. There should be an elected HoL with proportional representation not unelected members of the HoL!
And this is the first step towards an elected HoL - although you will eventually realise it's a bad idea if you look into it more/do AS Politics.

So, the fact that one of the monarchs liked one of their ancestors so much that they decided to give them a title. Rather than their own character, any hard work that they themselves might have done, or any skills or achievements of their own.
Not even that - they're born into a "noble" family by chance and somehow that gives them the right to titles, land and positions of power.
