    Yes it is. I'm showing multiplication by the conjugate of it.
    Ah yes of course.

    Close.
    My numerator factors were -42√2, 153, -56 and 102√2
    Did you get the same?

    Look, minus sqrt 2 and sqrt 2 when multiplied make minus 2
    Look what?? You're right. -\sqrt{2} \sqrt{2}=-2

    Yeah I did. Your answer is still remarkably wrong. Check it.

    Yeah I did. Your answer is still remarkably wrong. Check it.
    Well 153 - 56 = 97 and 102√2 - 42√2 = 60√2
    and the denominator is 1... I don't see where I went wrong

    Exactly, so you take that away from 211 ( 153 + 28)

    the denominator is 1, so?
    Yeah. Can you see how different it is to:

    If you want my answer:
    Spoiler:
    Show
    I got 97 - 60√2

    No. You misunderstand the calculation.

    153-28\sqrt{2}\sqrt{2}=153+28(-\sqrt{2}\sqrt{2})=153+28(-2)=153+(-56)=153-56

    I got  \frac{97+60\sqrt{2}}{1}
    I could plug it into a calculator and check but I'm too lazy.

    How come you are multiplying the -2 ?

    How come you are multiplying the -2 ?
    You are multiplying 28 by -\sqrt{2}\sqrt{2}

    We have established that -\sqrt{2}\sqrt{2} is equal to -2

    So we are multiplying 28 by -2.
