    Revising for your summer exams in March is perfectly reasonable, as is starting in December for mocks.

    Also you don't need to start months in advance, I know people who didn't start till Easter and came out with 9 A*s

    It really is different for different people. Some people are good taking exams, some are not. Some learn best during lessons, while others have to revise everything. For some people, they can start 1 month or even less in advance and get good grades, in fact for these people it's detrimental to revise any more because they end up burning out, while others revise many months in advance. You have to see what works for you.
