A good friend of mines works for a boutique specialist in London where demand for workers exceeds supply - maybe similar to yours.

That said, the results are candidates who demand higher sums than the employer wishes to pay and a lot of LinkedIn headhunting...

Not sure if your last comment there was a nod in agreement or a sarcastic insult... As I appreciate a bit of sarcasm, I'll take it well.
No it genuinely wasn't sarcasm I was just agreeing with the things you are mentioning.

If locums are travelling a long way from home, I need to negotiate with clients to either get a higher rate or just full mileage, and 99.9% of the time they agree to pay just the full mileage - which helps the locum. My agency is extremely high in demand. I mainly deal with Boots and Lloyds within Sainsbury's stores.

The problem I find with clients is that they cancel shifts at the last minute when locums are supposed to work them and it just makes it unfair. Its the same process when it comes to changing locums to another store - again a last minute decision!

Also a lot of the clients don't like certain aspects of their job, so I have to be ruthless towards them to get the job done!

Totally. Clients demand the moon from workers, and impose double standards. My girlfriend works with Boots - I understand your frustration completely... They can be indecisive and quite relentless when it comes to utilising locums - and security guards actually... Seem's there's very much still and us vs them attitude towards agency...
