I got exactly that this year, Media and Maths said I need to get involved more and share my ideas. Where as my Tutor, ICT and Business all said I take a leading role in class participation. Strange.

Being quiet in lessons has got nothing to do with whether or not youre a geek

It depends, I was probably thought of as one because I was good with computers and enjoyed science. What a strange young person I was. It doesn't help when you like Star Trek either but I don't really care as it's something I enjoy. Then again I am quite the normal person aside from liking the sciences/computing/ST as I will go out with 'non-like minded' people and go out drinking or socialising. Which isn't the typical perception.

Yes I agree, it's completely understandable that you want to fit in and be part of the social group there, that's how life is!

Also, does your confidence a world of good as well, as you implied.
Its not just that, but I know the people I would of turned out like, had I carried on with my geekish way, and Im really glad I decided to turn into a 'cool guy' instead

good move mate, think about it, imagine if you spent your life as a geek like cawley, youd hate it.

it's quality how things are now, id like to think we are pretty cool i suppose, know most people have a quality group of friends who arent geeks. and can actualy get girls

think how much we take the piss out of the geeks, imagine being one of them

Where I'm from stupid people tend to get bullied a lot more than geeks, although dumb geeks really get it.

I think I'm still a bit of a geek, less so than I used to be, but I've never really had any problems with bullying. I'm definately not a rebel in any sense of the word, but I do have a social life and a decent circle of friends, not sure where that puts me on the scale of geekiness.
