no, I do smile. It makes the time go a bit quicker. We are told never to start a conversation though, always wait for the customer to speak to you or they might get annoyed! It's true that if I do say anything , I sometimes get a rather shocked "it speaks!" type look.

I like it when people smile and talk, makes me feel less cheated when i have to hand over money to them

You must get all sorts of people at your till!

I'm a Sales 'Executive' for my parents company only work about 20 days in total per a year though.

I'm a Secretary and Property Administrator at an Estate Agents. I've been doing it since last September on my gap year. It's been really really good I shall be sad to leave to go to uni

Yeah, you do...but it's only usually one interesting person an hour! A few talk down to you because they assume that as you work in a supermarket you must therefore be incredibly stupid. Then there are the little kids who give you the exact change, in 1ps and 2ps, and its really hot because they've been holding it in their hands and they're all scared in case it's wrong or something. Sometimes they call me miss! The best ones are some of the really old people..they can't thank you enough if you pack their shopping for you and they think you're so clever because you have to remember all the fruit and vegetable codes. They're really sweet, bless 'em. I always think though, in the time I've worked there, I must have served a lot of dodgy people, maybe murderers, rapists, everything. And so far only one celebrity - Ian Lavender (Derek from Eastenders/Pike form Dad's Army).

cashier, only thing i could get without experience.
