If you're asking if there are lots of Londoners at UCL then I can reply in the affirmative. What exactly is it that's wrong with your school?

There are a fair few sloanies, but nothing compared to what it must be like at oxbridge.

As far as asian cliques, there are but its nothing compared to Queen Marys.

I wouldn't worry about settling in, it's a very mixed place.

i went to a comprehensive which was mainly awful - people would drive cars in and set them on fire, and they burnt down the tech dept- which wasn't small.
in school i was generally friends with people from asian countries more than white, because i felt happier with them, so i hope its not too clique-y

Are we really playing the "who went to the most bad-ass school" game?

Lol. My school wasn't that bad ass, it just had a lot of idiots (that included the faculty).

Well the burning down a department thing isn't too out-there, that happened at my school. The driving a car into the grounds and setting fire to it is pretty hardcore though.

it's all hardcore. People in my school wouldn't even believe this could happen, I went to a state school but a very traditional one. And someone who burned down a department would get into seroius trouble too, so things like that are really unheard of.

One of UCL's main selling points is being cosmopolitan, international and diverse. There will be all types of people - different cultures, different groups... I think its best to relax, leave prejudice at the door and accept that you can't classify fresh people in a new surrounding.

I went to a private school and I'd say the type of person you'd call a 'rah' or a 'sloane ranger' was in a minority and the vast majority of them were friendly, decent people (perhaps with a slightly unhealthy obsession for jack wills and polo shirts) and believe me, I'm the first to defend the plight of socialism and condemn people for being elitist.

Admittedly the ranks of people who actually supported the idea of helping people with a welfare state at my school numbered me and a guy prone to mumbling to himself abusively - an act only broken by the occassional outburst of support for what seemed to be stalin-era communism.
