Best = ''All you touch and all you see, is all your life will ever be'' - Pink Floyd, Breathe
"Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way"

"Cloudless everyday you fall upon my waking eyes
Inviting and inciting me to rise
And through the window in the wall
Come streaming in on sunlight wings
A million bright ambassadors of morning"

    "Emily tries but misunderstands
She's often inclined to borrow somebody's dreams till tomorrow
    There is no other day
    Let's try it another way
You'll lose your mind and play
    Free games for may
    See Emily play"

    Worst Pink Floyd lyric

"Corporal Clegg had a wooden leg
he won it in the war in nineteen forty four
Corporal Clegg had a medal too
in orange and blue, he found it in the zoo"

How they were still missing Syd.

too many bad ones to name.

i'm not that into the band, but i love:

    I am thinking it's a sign
That the freckles in our eyes
Are mirror images and when we kiss
    They're perfectly aligned
    And I have to speculate
That God himself did make us
    Into corresponding shapes
Like puzzle pieces from the clay
And true, it may seem like a stretch
But it's thoughts like this that catch
My troubled head when you're away
When I am missing you to death
When you are out there on the road
    For several weeks of shows
And when you scan the radio
I hope this song will guide you home

Anything by Dashboard Confessional in my opinion as they are my ultimate favourite band
I probably agree with Muppety_Kid - that Mcfly song is shocking!

The worst lyrics for me has to be by Meatloaf:

I would do anything for love

    But I won't do that

The best lyrics for me are by Carly Simon - You're So Vain. But the best lines from this song are:

You had me several years ago
When I was still quite naive
Well you said that we made such a pretty pair
And that you would never leave
But you gave away the things you loved
And one of them was me
    I had some dreams,
They were clouds in my coffee

I didn't put a "best" before, but it would have to go to the whole of Bohemian Rhapsody.

My personal favourite (Pink Floyd) lyrics come from "The Final Cut"

"Through the fish-eyed lens of tear stained eyes
I can barely define the shape of this moment in time
And far from flying high in clear blue skies
I'm spiraling down to the hole in the ground where I hide."

Or, from the same album, "Southampton Dock"...

    "They disembarked in 45
And no-one spoke and no-one smiled
There were to many spaces in the line."

The Final Cut certainly is Roger Water's Magnum Opus in terms of lyrics.

Non-Pink Floyd, I'd probably have to say this one from "Aqualung", by Jethro Tull:

    "Do you still remember
    December's foggy freeze
    when the ice that
clings on to your beard is
    screaming agony."

In terms of a whole Tull album, the bizarreness of the poem that makes up Thick of a Brick are hard to be beaten.

Worst blah that hip hopera by R-Kelly.

    best jimmy wat world 23

I felt for sure last night
    At once we said goodbye
No one else will know these lonely dreams
No one else will know that part of me
    Im still driving away
    And Im sorry every day
I wont always love these selfish things
    I wont always live...
    Stop it...

It was my turn to decide
I knew this was our time
No one else will have me like you do
No one else will have me, only you

    Youll sit alone forever
If you wait for the right time
    What are you hoping for?
Im here and now Im ready
    Holding on tight
    Dont give away the end
The one thing that stays mine

    fookin love this song.

The best would have to be next to near enough anything by Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan.

'I shall be released' and 'Positively 4th Street' i like-a very much. And is Forever Young anyone elses drunken anthem? Or just me, and you know, all my parents friends?! How tragic. :P

Jungleland is especially poigant and damn sexy! 'And the poets round here write nothing at all, they just stand back and let it all be' aaaaah, so gorgeous.

Worst, I don't know something by maybe Blue or Atomic Kitten.

"If you see me walking down the street
    staring at the sky
    and dragging my two feet
    you just pass me by
    it still makes me cry
you can make me whole again"

    ouch.

I might accidentally know all the words to that :ninja:

Worst for me would probably have to be most of "Sheila" by Jamie T.

    Or

"It's nine in the afternoooooooooonnnnnnnnn, and your eyes are the size of the moooooooooooooooooooooon"

I can't decide the best. There are many.

"I met a girl, she asked me my name, I told her what it was" from one of Razorlight's incredible songs won't be challenging for the 'finest lyric ever penned' award, I know that much.
worst lyrics also by razorlight: " i go out and then i come home again" well yes... so do most people

You have to hand it to him, he doesn't mess around - gets straight to the point.

"L-o-v-e, I'll see you later" deserves an honourable mention, too, while we're on the subject.
