    Sorry, but i tried explaining and he won't take it in. He asked whether its him and i said no but now he thinks it's because i'm scared of getting hurt. I don't know what to say to him because i still want him to be there, but he needs to understand we can't be more than friends...

    My point is... This guy could be on this forum, reading this thread, and not know it's him you're on about. You have to drill it into his head. You have to kill his dreams, you have to destroy his ambition to be with you. If you are absolutely sure you never EVER want to be with him, then you have to do this now. Otherwise he will continue.

    And whilst I would be completely heartbroken if the girl I was interested in did this to me, it's a fact of life. It's something I'd have to deal with and have dealt with before. You can't spare his feelings without getting yourself all worked up. So...

    No problem. It is hard to crush someone like that... but trust me, you'll be better off for it, and I swear it doesn't make you a bad person. It's not something you have to feel guilty about.
