I never have done, but I don't think it would be too bad as you don't socialise much at a show as its too loud etc. I would feel a bit wierd by myself, probably won't ever do it, but I can see why people do.

My mate does this several times a term; she has an unusual taste in music.

My mum'll often come with me, but if she's busy the only qualms I have about going alone are managing to get rid of my extra ticket.

I've never been on my own but almost always end up on my own during the course of the gig (i'm amazing at getting to the front but all of my friends are pussies). But i think i would go alone to a concert if i was really desperate to see them. Like if no doubt reformed and toured or something. I would physically HAVE to go to that one. But none of my friends like no doubt

I usually go to gigs with mates

On the other hand at Reading last year, I wandered back to the campsite around Midnight to hear my friend Seb exclaim "****ing hell Guy, I haven't seen you for over 12 hours! Where've you been?"

I just gave him a blank look and got another beer...

I've been to one on my own, once you're in it doesn't matter, it's just getting there and queuing.

That's why i ditch my friends for a while and find them later. Although being there the whole time on your own gets boring.
yeah true true. The only thing that would put me off going to a gig by myself is that they're ususally in manchester which is a 40 min train journey away which could be kind of boring. Then again i dont think i'd go to a gig in my town alone and risk running into people i know and looking like a bit of a loser

and i know what you mean, after a while that constant smashing of your ribs against the metal bars, people elbowing you in the face and groping you from behind gets kind of dull. Thats why i like being about 3 rows back. Definately the best position, you have an awesome view but you can move around and you're not fighting for your life...plus theres more chance of being there with your friends

I've only been to 2 concerts out of about 15 with someone else. That was only because she came down to London from Scotland. Otherwise, I go by myself.
None of my friends are into my music.

The last one I went to was in Birmingham, it took about 2.5 hours on the coach up there. I had to wait 'til 5 in the morning for the coach down, it was a bit boring though. I did have my PSP, and some comics to read, so it wasn't too bad.

Going on your own is fine, plus it can bring opportunities that wouldn't come up if you are in a group. And if you get into it, then why not try to pick up some work for a local paper doing gig reviews, chance of free tickets..........

I've done it before. It doesn't really matter, you go to gigs to enjoy the music anyway!

I've done it officially once, effectively twice - mate dropped out at the last minute for one, and for another I wanted to watch the rakes instead of queue for the cloakroom at ally pally for franz ferdinand. Didn't find my friends until the end of the concert, unsurprisingly (ally pally is massive).
