Yeah! My grandparents live nearby and I remember clambering around the rocks on bradgate park when I was a kid. Can't want to start this year. My grandparents pronounce it braggat, I wasn't sure which park you were talking about when i first saw bradgate :p:
That'll be the leicester accent! Most noticable thing is anything ending in y is 'eh' and anything ending in er is 'uh'. So very becomes vereh and carer becomes caruh. Ok that's a poor description! It's a mix between northern and southern accents I reckon

/tangent.

Your talking rubbish, I'm from Cambridge and there are some parts that look like a warzone, every city has them. The Leicester student accomodation is set amongst the botanical gardens and is some of the best I've seen. Leicester city centre is really nice now so I dont know if your judging an entire city on a few nasty parts you've seen. If you havent got anything positive to contribute then please don't.
I am sorry but we are all entitled to an opinion, its not productive if everybody likes the same thing. Having grown up in Leicester and having moved away I much perfer the south coast and other cities. I admit I have only seen a small part of the student accomodation which was nice, but not the best. However, all in all I am glad I am elsewhere. This is just my opinion.

I have to admit im not overly impressed with the city of Leicester as a whole, when i went to visit it it wasnt THAT nice. The bits in the city center that had been done up are nice, but you can tell the city itself needs a fair of re-development, but i think it has good potential.

And tbh whatever its like, im coming from peter borough so anything is an improvement lol

I like Leicester as a city. It isn't anything special, but it's not too rough if you stay in the right areas and as a student at Leicester you're actually in the really nice areas of Leicester. Oadby is lovely, Clarendon Park in really nice, the Uni campus is good and aside from that, the furthest most people tend to branch out to is city centre. So as a Student, you are in a good area!

I guess lots of people feel like that about where they're from. I prefer Leicester to York for just that reason. I've never seen nicer student accommodation than Leicester, aside from at Cambridge.

I live in York and love it. The city is much nicer than Leicester. Don't get me wrong, I love Leicester as a student. But York is much prettier to actually live in. I'd always pick living in York over living in Leicester.

But as a student, Leicester is great. Halls are in an excellent location (I don't think you could beat the location) and clarendon park is pretty good too. My friend is at Manchester and she got mugged outside her halls!! Now that's what I'd call bad.
