No effing way.

That's just ridiculous. And it doesn't make sense - you do the most degrading thing possible to pay your way through university so that you can avoid a not-so-degrading job?

University isn't worth it. Plenty of people go on to become extremely successful without having gone to university, without even having finished school.

I really would find it difficult to believe there was no other job you could get. I'd rather work two, three, four crappy jobs if I was totally hard-up than do that to myself.

Considering that some hookers can command up to £300 an hour* - and that's more than I make in a week - I'd say that the financial perks would certainly cover any dent in one's pride...

*Just to be clear, I don't know this because I've paid someone £300 for an hour's worth of sex :p:
I'm sure...you just know it because it's an interesting fact right? :p:

It's only as degrading as you make it out to be.

i don't understand - why would you?

surely you would go to uni, then after graduating, if you could not pay back the student loans, THEN you would go into prostitution

Well I think the vast majority of people would find it pretty darn degrading to sell your body. Would you do it?!

Well I take part in medical research mainly for the money (1-2k). I mean I know the whole 'helping science' and etc, but I know that's not the main reason why I do it and in many ways it's a form of prostitution. So yes, I would do it.

Well, it's a bit of an artificial choice, but in theory yes I would.
As has been said, I believe it would only be as degrading as you made it. To be honest I find the idea of using my body to earn money I needed for an education more empowering than sitting around doing nothing with my life.
Of course in the real world, I'd get a regular job to pay my way

I'm on the clinical trial panel at GlaxoSmithKline. Mainly drug trials. I've participated in two so far, and it's turned out well and the money is not bad.

I read the diary of a call girl one, can't remember exact name, made it sound fun rather than anything else.
Fun with cash in hand, best sort of fun.

And 'it's turned out well' means no side effects? Side effects in past?

Well in the first study, I didn't experience any side effects at all. The second one was a little unpleasant - mainly stomach aches though it did not last long. The second one was quite long almost a month.

Why do you intend to take part as well?

there is a reason this only happens in the US and not the UK you know - anyone who claims they were so unable to survive on a basic grant/loan + conventional part-time job combo and had to resort to selling their body is either making excuses for entering prostitution, or they are used to a ridiculously extravagent beyond-their-means lifestyle.

it's not like America where it ends up costing $300,000 to go to college or whatever.

I'm considering it. I've done non-invasive. Very boring. So boring I felt more ill than if it had been invasive.

Thanks for your info.

I shan't delve into why I know, because the hole I just dug myself will continue to grow

Yeah, why not. Well, I'd be an escort anyway. High-class whore.

If it paid for me to get a decent degree and consequently a better life, I don't see the problem.
