Interesting. What film do you consider better than PF?
The list would go on for quite a while.......

The Godfather
Schindlers list
Saving Private Ryan
Star Wars (A new hope and the empire strikes back)
The Shawshank redemption
Psycho

All I can think of off the top of my head.

I would love it if it didn't inspire such pomposity in everyone
That's one of the things I hate about it.

As soon as you've seen this film, you're immediately a critic and know everyting there is to know about film, and more importantly, why Pulp Fiction is better.

It is a really good film and one that a lot of people go back and watch again and again....and some watch it again because they didn't understand it the first time round!

The worst for that ^^a film called "Memento". It tells it's story in the weirdest way I've ever seen.

But back to Pulp Fiction...the dialogue was one of the best I've heard in a film and was directed by one of the finest in the world =]
 Memento was brilliant!

Fair play, I love those films myself. Admittedly I was hoping you'd say something like "The Hottie and the Nottie" or "Good Burger" so that my response could have been a little more interesting.

Memento.

I wouldn't compare them though and they're different genres so it's really hard to say "oh, this film is better than this film" because sometimes, it doesn't work like that.

But, if we're staying in the same kind of category, regarding director/style (interwoven story lines and suchlike), I'd say Sin City was better.

Unfortunately, this is true. As a film student and serious film geek, I am one of the few who holds legitimate claim to the above titles (pompous as that may sound, I apologise, but it is true), but yes, even I get fed up with people touting Tarantino as wholly original and such. He's probably one of the most derivative directors/writers in the "biz" today.

If one watches films from Jean-Luc Godard (such as Vivre sa vie), his inspirations are painfully apparent, although he provides the most entertaining and well-written instances of pastiche I've ever seen in a film.

Agreed, it's great Not seen it for a while though.

And I'm not bothered that so many other people like it too, even though that's a bit boring (like how EVERYONE loved Donnie Darko circa 2003).

I don't really understand why people care if something's popular or not - one should only want to increase notoriety about a great film. I know people love to have their "things", but come on, that's quite infantile. Reminds me of when some girl in school stopped liking Nirvana because "everyone else" started liking them. LOL.

Although I guess it is a tad frustrating that people don't really know how much Tarantino borrows, and think he's actually original.

I love Pulp Fiction, one of the best films. Although impossibly hard in a game of charades...

I have no idea what "everyone's" opinion is. I find it unlikely that "everyone" has the same opinion of one film.
