I downloaded it and mucked about for about 15 minutes. I then realised it was most certainly not my thing.

I have never and suspect never will understand why Second Life even exists. Even MMORPGs have objectives; complete this quest, fight these enemy players, get to the maximum level. Second Life doesn't seem to have any end-point as far as I can see, but worse than that, it doesn't seem to have any progress checkpoints either. It's like an entire game without a point, yet somehow its managed to draw in thousands of players.
God. It sounds even worse than MSN.

I keep seeing stories about it in the paper how people have met others and have had virtual weddings and then met up in real life and got married...

I don't think I wanna try it.

It's like MSN with people you don't even know and might not even like. It's just a huge chatroom with a walking avatar.

Then I really don't get the point. I use Facebook to keep up with friends and do the odd bit of stalking. Second Life strikes me as being like getting dumped into one giant world-wide IRC channel with highly-detailed customisable avatars and flying, winged penises.

Yeah that's a bit ****** up. However, I've met my boyfriend in Second Life. Never really played it since But I guess it's easier to talk to new people there than in real life.

i heard of it because my aunt uses it.
anyone hear about the story where a couple got divorced (in real life) becase the husband slept with a hooker (on second life)
apparently you have to buy genitals before you can have sex.
i'm currently resisting the urge to call my aunt and ask if she's bought genitals.
:')
