*sighs* you're right...i'm kind of being a hypocrite (ok ok, I *AM* being a hypocrite) by saying that...*shrugs* everyone has their opinions so I'll just back off here... Sorry~*
It's not that I mind, I like the books (though the films should be burnt along with some of the actors), just as I say, tis best to keep the fanship to the main thread, where your more likely to get a response (from other likers/lovers)

To be labelled as 'cool' is cool then?

By the way. I DO like Harry Potter. I was convinced by a few kids to read the books. Those kids being Cub Scouts for whom I was their leader at the time. They are brilliant, simple as that, and anyone over the age of 13 saying they suck should be shot. Simple as that. However if a 10year old was to read/be read all the books, and say they suck. Well thats another story entirely. Even then, the number would be very few, and they would be trying to come off as uhmm erm 'cool' Don't bother replying to this one whoever started this thread, since you're wrong from the outset. Have a nice day

I like the Harry Potter stuff myself though I have to say the acting was really quite poor in the first movie. I think it was better in the second though.

Lol! Yes it is commercialisation but it wass going to appen sooner or later. Every famous book written over the past century which I can think of has been made into a movie, so it was only a matter of time before Potter and his chms made the transition to the big screen

True, but there is one good thing to it. It brings the spirit and the story to be told right up to those who would have otherwise never had the chance to come across it. I for one have never read the LOTR books, did get through the first 40 pages of "The Hobbit" before I had to return it to the library though Must go find them all one day and have a read. Still, I'm thankful for the movies, even though I can agree with all the people who've read the books and say they fail to even compare with the books. Movies never seem to make it, too much to be said in too short a time, and it leaves nothing to the individuals imagination for atmosphere. Yet my point remains. Some people may never get the chance to experience such stories until they are flickering against a big white screen.

LoL nevermind about that "cool" thing or w/e..I didn't know what word to put.

Yea, I hate how movies always miss out some of the best parts and sometimes prevent people from reading the books they are based on. I, have attempted to read the LOTR series..erm..didn't get very far...*shakes head* no, not very far at all..

When I saw the HP movies I was kind of disappointed because my imagination had completely (well not completely..but agh! nevermind..) different views and thoughts about how characters looked, their personalities, etc. But that was just me..I think Tom Felton was perfect for Draco Malfoy tho..

Hey peeps!I' m new to this site, but I'd like to ask the people who voted they hate Harry Potter, why?
(By the way, I do to!)
What is your reason to hate the pint size- wand waving- nymphamaniac (the last comment is yet to be confirmed but I have my suspicions...!)?
NOTHING becomes as popular as Harry Potter because of quality. It is more of a trend book , boosted wth comercial pressure, and media attention. I like to call it "the Pokemon phenomena". The hysteria around this book, which may be an ok book, is undoubtly due to a temporary public trend rather than any real excelence about the book itself. If you like you can compare it to Start Trek or Lord of the Ring. It is not really that special if you look at the actual content or the story. It differs from other works, mainly in terms of popularity and atention. I just can't stand it when 18 year old girls go hysteric over a book aimed at ten year olds, just because it is popular. Im sorry, but I cant take it. Ok, the book might be ok, I am not going to diss it without reading it, but I do know this kind of hysteria, and it frequently has absolutely nothing to do with the book / movie / series itself. When people deliberately try to act as morons, because its popular to have a "blond" behaviour, then things have gone to far. I strongly suspect that several people make themselves more stupid than they acually are just because they think it is "in" to be that way. Well, just watch it folks. An ugly facial expression may not stick cus you do it to much, but stupidity does!
